There’s a new crime fighter in town by the name of Walter “Hook” Runyon. Hook is a railroad detective working in WWII era rural Oklahoma.
When a homeless man (friend of Hook’s) is found dead in the train yard no one is really interested or surprised by a local drunk being found run over by a rail car – no one except Hook, who believes this has been a murder.
Russell brings to life the depressed area of WWII era Oklahoma in this short mystery filled with interesting characters, human emotion, and the gritty tenacity that is Hook Runyon.
Anyone that enjoys mysteries should take the time to read The Yard Dog. I look forward to reading more mysteries with Hook on the job!
